Ambassador Akbar Ahmed is the author of The Thistle and the Drone which was published in 2013 . Ahmed draws on 40 case studies in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia to reveal the often unrecognized adverse effects of campaigns on the war against terror. He is a world-renowned scholar and was awarded the 2014 German Peace Prize. Dr. Ahmed is the Chair of Islamic Studies, American University and former Pakistani Ambassador to UK.
