This is my $4.50 "dollar tree" foam board EDF rendition of a Saab 37 Viggen (translated means Thunderbolt), a Swedish airforce fighter.
I used the free plans from Flitetest.com, designed by David Windestal. I downloaded it from their website, printed them out, tiled them together and cut out the parts, hot glued together, sprayed w flat clear finish, then air brushed w Hobby Lobby airbrush paint,
I'm using a 70mm EDF unit from Hobby King designed for the Zephyr for $25, a 60 A ESC, and a 3S 2200 mAh lipo, radio is an HobbyKing orange DSM2 reciever, servos are 9g metal gear for $4 bucks each x2. The airframe cost $4.50, the guts cost $60 total. It weighs in at 1.2 Kg (with battery) the EDF pulls 29 amps at 11.4v (3S) , about 300 watts. However, the power is not enough, it will fly but not hot enough. I would reccomend that if you build this Flite Test plane, that you use a better EDF unit. It was a fun project and is a stable flyer, just not fast enough with my set up. Thanks for watching and go build, fly, crash, repeat. Roger
