In this video, I answer the burning question of which bootcamp to attend: Hack Reactor or General Assembly?
The answer depends on where you are at with your software development journey.
General Assembly's Web Development Immersive (WDI) program is great for a beginner. I completed the 12 week in-person program in summer 2015 after starting from 0. I was able to land a job as a Software QA Analyst in Las Vegas within weeks after graduating the program.
Hack Reactor's Remote Online Part Time Program was an incredible experience and was significantly better in preparing students for the job market post-graduation. However, it is a more advanced bootcamp and some pre-requisite skills are necessary in order to even get admitted. If you have the skills necessary to complete the program, and you get accepted, I would highly recommend doing the Hack Reactor Part Time Online Remote program.
If it wasn't clear enough in the video, I highly recommend prospective bootcamp students spend a lot of time learning before taking a bootcamp. Entering a bootcamp unprepared is a recipe for disaster, and in my experience, leads to a dejected student post graduation.
The job market is BRUTAL for junior engineers, especially if you do not live in the Bay Area, or are unable to move to the Bay Area. By entering a bootcamp with near-job-ready skills, you are significantly more likely to land a job as an engineer.
