Trouble Shooter was developed and published by Vic Tokai (Clash at Demonhead, Whip Rush), and was released in Japan in 1992 as Battle Mania. Players control the character "Madison", who is always accompanied by her partner "Crystal". Unlike many horizontal shooters, the player can instantly fire at enemies on either sides of the screen. The game is reminiscent of Capcom's Forgotten Worlds, and Cave's Deathsmiles. The game has a high degree of polish, and thanks to its lack of 1-hit kills, is more forgiving than most other Genesis shooters. A sequel titled Battle Mania Daiginjō was released for the Mega Drive in Japan, but was unfortunately never brought over to North America.
Genesis Oddities is a series of videos that seeks to feature Sega Genesis games that have been forgotten by most gamers. The footage is filmed from an emulator, but I will only feature games that I own in my personal collection. The intent of the videos isn't to show a skilled run of each game, but to merely give the viewer an impression of a game that they may not have played before.
