Took out my recently purchased new camera setup: GH5, Zhyiun Crane and Panasonic 12m 1.4. Footage was originally filmed in VLOG, 4k 10 bit 24P, then graded. Still figuring out how to work the camera, so excuse the over/under/out of focus shots. Filming in vlog without a LUT was tough. Lesson learned, now using zebra and focus peaking. Another challenge on the shoot was the constantly changing lighting, which did lead to some cool shots - hence some of the dramatic shifts in coloring once the LUT/grading was applied.
Observations after the fact:
Noise in slow mo in low light. Slow mo was 120FPS. It seems the camera's auto adjusting the ISO, or other variable, in an attempt to find a balanced exposure. Will need to figure out a better way to handle darker VFR footage. Denoiser worked relatively well though. Probably should of taken the ND off, too :)
Variable ND seems far handier. Only have a 5 stop ND at the moment. In order to open up the lens, at least an 8 stop ND is probably needed in brighter conditions.
The Zhiyun Crane is an amazing tool, but one that requires some practice. I managed to tune the gimbal after the fact to avoid some of the unwanted move and jerk pans, etc. Pulling focus while on the crane is something I still need to figure out. Ordered the dual handles for the Crane, which I think are a most. The Panasonic with the 12m was a little much to handle for long periods of time. The handles will surely help!
The 12m 1.4 Panasonic Leica is just amazing. So crisp, so sharp. With 4k cropping, I have yet to think about needing a zoom - for now.
The purchase of 2 128GB (Lexar 1000X) and 2 spare batteries (Amazon special - 2 + charger for $39) turned out to be a very good idea. Batteries are great and come with nice sealed cases for each and a charger that you can plug a standard micro USB charger. I carry a battery bank to charge on super long treks
