You can combine a gimbal and steadicam arm and vest to get some ultra smooth shots all while saving your back and arms from fatigue. If you've been wondering if you can put a gimbal on a steadicam arm, the answer is yes! All it takes is a simple and cheap Manfrotto 5/8” Stud to 3/8” Thread Adapter. You put this adapter on the steadicam arm post and then screw your handheld gimbal on top of it using the 3/8" threads on the bottom. (**be advised in the video I misspoke and said 3/4", it's actually 3/8") This will work with all versions of the Zhiyun Crane and the new DJI Ronin S.
Steadicam vests are amazing and have been around for quite some time, but they've typically been used with steadicams, glidecams, etc. With the popularity of electronic gimbals on the rise, people are trying to find ways to further stabilize the 4th axis and take weight off of their arms and back; this is a good solution for that! Don't plan on vlogging or travelling with the gimbal and steadicam arm, but for bigger all day shoots, it's a great option.
