Godzilla Generations is a Japanese release only Godzilla game made by Sega, and unlike Atari's game trilogy, it is only destroying cities of Japan under a time limit. Although the game was not well recieved, it did have a sequel called Godzilla Generations: Maximum Impact.
My Personal Thoughts from first impression and knowledge I know (I have not owned nor played the game at all)
-I like how they used Mechagodzilla from the 1970's despite the fact that the 90's Mechagodzilla existed. It makes more sense, and it's good to see that version of MG appear.
-I like the use of Zilla. Even though he's not a very good monster, and clearly they are not using Zilla Jr, it would be nice to see him in a game so it's good to see that he's in this.
-I like the inclusion of the 50's Godzilla. Not many games actually have him, and it took a while for Atari to do so.
-I also like that they included city destroying. Though fighting is much more fun, I wish they did offer a mode that you could just destroy the city in One Player, as if to re-inact the original Godzilla movie or something. It would be a nice touch. Albeit not very much used, but a nice option to have. However, it is unfortunate they don't have a fighting mode in this game, well....not like you'd expect.
-I do however find it odd that they included Minilla and a giant Dr. Serizawa. I wonder why Atari never made a giant Dr. Serizowa (forgive my mis-spellings), Since they have Zilla in I wonder why they didn't include Spacegodzilla, Destoroyah, or Godzilla Jr. (or all of them). The first and latter of those three would make the most sense being Godzillas, and the title being "Godzilla" Generations.
-I won't talk about the Graphics much being it's dreamcast and probably not a late one, but I have seen much better looking DC games.
-In a way I kinda wish it was released in the US, but I can see why it wasn't. It really needs some polish. However, I'll be able to review it more properly once I have my own footage and actually play the game.
-Oh, and I also like the attention to detail. In both of the Generations game, the monsters do look almost just like their suits IRL, so I'll give them that too.
