Golf Swing Analysis: Rick Fowler vs. Bubba Watson (Golf's #1 Lag Instructor)
I know there are a lot of Ricky Fowler and Bubba Watson fans out there, so I thought I would make a video on both the differences and similarities in their swings. You couldn't pick out two players with more polar opposite ways of getting to the same position = impact.
Lets start with Bubba. Bubba has a very upright swing plane with very high hands at the top of his swing. This is great for leverage to help build clubhead speed and one of the real keys to his excessive distance. Many people would say that Bubba has a "two plane" golf swing. Even though I do not like the context that many people associate with a 2 plane swing, it is a good way to think of the overall shape of his swing.
On the other end of the spectrum is Ricky Fowler. Ricky has a very flat swing which is much more around his body. In general it will be much more difficult to generate speed this way. Although if you do many of the other important pieces of the golf swing correct it can still be possible, as he demonstrates.
