Maddie and I went out for her birthday breakfast at Panera. A man at the table to my left came over when Maddie got up from the table, to tell me how much he enjoyed watching her face when she opened her present. I love that I can give my daughter a refurbished gift for her birthday and she's delighted. I love that she likes to shop at Salvation Army for clothes and I love that she wants to define what being thirteen is for herself. What an amazing young woman - and I get to be her mom - such a privilege.
