Basically this is an any pond clients garden fishpond. Any Pond Limited has been performing a number of different pond cleaning services for them for a number of years.
They moved into this house last year so we moved their fish and carried out a full drain and clean on this new inherited garden pond.
There is lots of goldfish in this pond with not much room. These goldfish are now all growing massive and most of them are around eight inches long.
This pond has lots of fish and lots of garden plants that add to the organic load each year. There is no pond pumps or any form of filtration on this pond. This means keeping it clear and safe for the fish. This only gets harder and harder each year if nothing is done.
We're going to work to a limited budget to improve the water quality and improve the look and feel of this green garden pond.

So here is a progress report on this goldfish pond here in Rugby, Warwickshire, UK as you may remember they haven't got any form of pond filtration as such.
So what we've actually done to start to improve this garden pond here in Rugby, Warwickshire, UK.
Is first we have spent about half an hour netting out organic pond waste out of this fish pond. This is part of the fish pond services that Any Pond Limited provides. We actually removed three-quarters of a bucket of waste and about a quarter of a bucket of floating waste off the surface of this garden pond.
We've removed the pond net that covers the pond surface. Then we are going to treat the pond with some beneficial bacteria-based biological pond products into the pond to start helping mother nature improve the water quality.
The first biological pond product we are going to add is a product called Multi Clear to help clear and reduce the green water (this slows down the single cell algae growth).
Next we are going to put in a product called Bio Lake which is a great biological pond product that will reduce and acts as a preventative of organic pond waste.
Please note you should add this product into all ponds that have no pond filtration, every spring to kick start the defence against water quality issues in the coming pond season.
Also Any Pond Limited are going to use another pond maintenance product which is applied to the pond once a month.
This is an easy to use fish pond product and is called Multi Aqua. This monthly pond cleaning product, basically breaks down and eats organic pond waste naturally, which in turn helps with better water quality in your fish pond.
Multi Aqua carries on working after the person that is doing the maintenance on the pond, stops for a well earned cup of the finest British tea.

Right, so what do you expect from only one week, we can't perform miracles you know as I do not have my magic welly’s on. I only have my pond crocs on today, but what I have got for you today is a progress report.
So to help with the water quality.
We are going to put in some aquatic pond plants into the pond to start competing for the food that the Algae feeds on. I also have some new DIY tips and tricks for you.
Hopefully you'll learn and be inspired by me today as we have some new technology for you.
Planting a number of Pond Plants
What we have here is some retail available marginal pond plants and there's a mixture of wildlife, ornamental and wetland filtration plants in these aquatic pond baskets.
I always like to leave the carry handles on until I actually get them into position exactly where I want them and make sure that they are at the correct depths of water.
So basically I leave the pond plant carry handles on but take the plant labels off.
Here is a great DIY pond tip for you budding water gardeners out their, as you can see in my right hand I have a floating island well its a lovely floating pond plant that's just simply growing on top off a block of polystyrene. Look at this you can't see the polystyrene from this side but you can from the under side.
What a tip for you, it's probably been growing on that polystyrene for over a year, but what perfect way to shelter and out-compete the Algae for food.
