The first band is the band of the Irish Guards, seen leaving Wellington Barracks and passing Buckingham Palace. This is followed by the Welsh Guards, the Coldstream Guards and the Scots Guards, all marching down The Mall. The final band is the band of the Grenadier Guards with two Corps of Drums playing.
Major General W G Cubitt CBE, Major General Commanding the Household Division, took the Salute at the parade which followed on Horse Guards Parade. In effect, however, this is the first full rehearsal for the Trooping of The Colour which takes place two weeks after this parade and which celebrates the official birthday of the Queen. This year the colour to be trooped is that of the 1st Battalion, The Grenadier Guards with the trooping performed by The Queen's Company.
At the first rehearsal there are no guards lining the parade route, and, as no member of the Royal Family is present, the drum majors do not wear state dress.
