Sept. 2012 - After visiting several cities we were ready to head for the mountains! Hallstatt, Austria is another UNESCO World Heritage Site with a population less than 900. It is located on the edge of a beautiful lake surrounded by high & steep mountains. It is known for salt production dating from prehistoric times! We wanted to visit for its beauty and hiking. This location was definitely a major highlight of our month in Europe!
We took many photos because we were entranced by the beauty from every angle! Changing weather and lighting prompted us to photograph some scenes repeatedly as they changed in appearance each day. Enjoy!
