If you go to Google Earth and then select the "explore the moon" option you can take this animated tour of the Taurus--Littrow Vally. (You may need to locate and download some addition material). The astronauts describe the Taurus--Littrow Vally as an undulating valley. You can see exactly what they mean in this video. And you can also see exactly how easy it is for the LM to simply disappear behind one of those undulations.
