Social media is giving people another way to express their political opinions is and transforming the way we are governed. Call it Democracy 2.0. Henry Jenkins, a professor of communication, journalism and cinematic Arts at USC, describes the shift that is taking place in how politics are conducted as people taking media into their own hands, remixing and re-circulating words, images and videos to put the spotlight on elected officials and reshape political agendas.
Specializing in the effects of participatory media on society, politics and culture, Jenkins is a Professor of communication, journalism and cinematic arts at USC. He is also co-author of "Spreadable Media: Creating Value and Meaning in a Networked Society", and worked with the MacArthur Foundation to develop a media literacy program.
