Here is a documentary that Austin, Lewis and I made. It was inspired by our feelings that the format called vlogging that we know today is changing for the worse. I beleive that the reason vlogs ever became popular in the first place was their authenticity. They were an outlet for people to connect to the lives of others, either on a relatable or an aspiring level. Unlike the once-popular genre of reality tv, vlogs werent scripted. They were an authentic format that promoted real life people doing real life things. However, as times are changing once again, just like reality tv, vlogs are now changing too. A once authentic video format is changing into something unauthentic. Creators are now chasing revenue instead of presenting reality, whereby they are making unrealistic and scripted videos that are created for the sole purpose of view success and revenue growth. This is not only ruining the format, but it also dangerous to the viewers of such content, as they are now susceptible to unrealistic lifestyles and subject to constant advertising. The power that these popular vloggers have is now being abused for purposes of greed, which is now forcing other vloggers to do the same in hope of keeping up with them.
ahhahahaha lol I just realised how big that rant was.. To those who don't really care, I'll cut a long story short and say it was a documentary we made for a media studies assignment on a topic we thought would be easy to present. Importantly though, BIG THANKS to Austin who played a majority role in creating this. So you guys should go check out his videos, they are a very high quality and he deserves it.
