I was still in Iowa for the Thanksgiving Holiday, and no trip back to Iowa would be complete for me without getting at least some miles in on the Heritage Trail. This time of year, the leaves are mostly gone but the ground is still not frozen solid, so it's the perfect conditions. The temperature on this day was also above freezing, so it was just about perfect running conditions for this trail.
I started at Twin Springs and headed east along the trail until I hit Durango for the turnaround. It was about 10.5 miles round trip. Along the way, I saw a black squirrel, grey squirrels, a hawk, two bald eagles, and three people.
