Breifly: After the huge earthquake, and tsunami in Japan, the Fukishima-Diachii NPP was damaged due to cooling pump faliure resulting in three meltdowns. Due to this, mainly Cesium 137 and Strontium started leaking into the ocean, polluting all of its inhabitants. Within months, the Pacific currents carried it all the way to the eastern pacific coast.
There has been alot of controversy and speculation on weither our beaches are actually being polluted, so i had to find out myself. I picked up a surplus, recalibrated CDV-700 Geiger counter, and scanned my local beach (Area code 94019). Normal radiation levels are between 20-40 CPM (0.05-0.10 Mr/hr) My highest reading was about 160-180 CPM (0.265-0.300 Mr/hr).
