I was told that it's bad luck if you don't name your vessel before it's maiden voyage. So, I've named this plane Horus, after the Egyptian sky god. Let's hope it lives up to it!
Any positive comments, suggestions, experiences are welcome. Hopefully soon, I'll be posting flight videos.
Still some work to do on things. The ground station was a quick throw-together job, and I plan to re-do it completely at some point down the road.. I'm also finding that the little tripod with quick-release is ok, but not great. It doesn't seem to want to clamp down and hold very tight.
I need to make sure my FY21AP is configured properly with the Futaba. I'm pretty certain that it is, just haven't completely confirmed it yet.
Also, need to figure out a good way to latch the access door closed where it will stay. It's just friction and gorilla tape right now.
I need to find a mounting bracket for the little Sony view cam. Not really fond of just having it velcro'ed like it is. Unfortunately, I got it used and it didn't come with the little bracket.
Need a bright colored wire pointing straight out front to show the operator where center-forward is (so he can get back to center with the cameras after looking off to the side).
Need to install the low-pass filter on the video transmitter on the plane. Or does it go on the receiver on the ground station? hmm..
As I mention in the video, another carbon strip in the h-stab and some gorilla on the leading edges.
Last but not least, another coat or two of red on the wingtips, as well as matching design on the h-stab, then about a 2" yellow stripe just inside the red.
Then - I believe we'll be ready to take it out - when we have cooperating weather. Lately, it's been about 20*F out.. Not exactly the most fun to stand in one spot for a long time.
