Looking back on the University of Queensland Wakeboard & Waterski Club's (www.uqski.com) Houseboats weekend with the faint distinct calling of "SOCIAL!!" in the distance, the members headed down to the salty, fresh scent of the great Coomera River. For the one the only, event of the semester HOUSEBOATS...
Those who were game enough to attend were reminded that for Friday night they'd need something red, but we'll get to that in a bit. As per tradition attendees were treated to the finest of liquor. Our token danish girl treated us all to her favourite of all drinking games World Championship.... or as we loveling like to call it Flick Cap, special mentions go to the streaking Norwegian and Jimbo.
Of course, as the night progressed and the red cordial flowed and the red modesty rags became apparent - special mentions to the return of the Crimson Elephant and Borat's Russian Cousin.
Early morning risers were treated to the familiar sound of water slapping in an ever so rhythmic pattern, against the boat's thighs... I mean hulls definitely hulls. After receiving a much-required pancake breakfast, the houseboats were pushed off. As if the ride out to our anchoring wasn't exciting enough, it definitely got some hearts racing when a Jet ski came out of nowhere and ran straight into the side of the houseboat. With quick thinking from Jeremy, and a heroic act from Shem jumping off the roof to save them, everyone came out of the incident safely and a-okay (minus a jetski). Turns out when a Jetski and a houseboat go head to head... Houseboats always come out on top!
After a much-needed recovery ride, the day drinking began which of course led to twerking and the ever exciting peg game.... in between jumping between boats and rafts.
As the day became night and the lemons became Yukka, the boats were conjoined to become one great mega party boat. Of course, the prescribed theme for the night was of course 'P' - and by god does that give us a lot of options. We had it all from police man/women, to prisoners; even the frickin' pope made an appearance. Of course, the rate of flow of Yukka led to only one possible option ROOFTOP PARTY, many decided to partake in the climb of said houseboats, only forgetting whilst up there as to how to get down. Some chose the swimming approach, whilst others decided the best way down would be to use their head as a landing pad.
Special mention to Nandi for being an amazing sport.
Sleepyheads awoke to the Malibus being ready and down for any sort of action, to help recover/relive from the night before. Which showed a some pretty impressive skills from the girls with Pam sticking a wake to wake & Nandi perfected the single ski! And they boys rocked some impressive attempts! Come Party with Us on Houseboats next time.. www.robbampton.com.au
