I discovered a safer and more energy efficient way and a cheaper way to heat SNAKE enclosures a long time ago and I'm making this video for a few people that have asked me about how I heat my snake enclosures. Reptile heating mats are expensive and don't have a long life if used a lot. Also they are electric hogs and really can jack up your utility bills if you have a lot of snakes that you want to provide belly heat for. I would NEVER go back to using reptile heating mats and most all people that have stopped using them wouldn't go back to them. They are VERY expensive and not efficient except for a strong concentration of intense heat in one area if they aren't connected to a timer or thermostat.
Be sure and purchase the heating pads that have NO AUTO SHUT OFF so you don't have to keep resetting the heating pads.
This works great for snakes that are kept in their own individual enclosures and wouldn't suggest using this method in a rack set up.
