AEROPRESS BREW RECIPE
Parameters:
Coffee: 20g (≈ 2.5tbs)
Filtered Water: ≈ 280g at 200°-205°F (≈ 60 seconds off-boil)
Grind: Fine (resembles table salt)
Time: ≈ 1:30 total
Equipment:
An Aeropress
An Aeropress paper filter or the Disk Fine by Able
A strong vessel to brew into that won't be damaged under pressure
A scale that measures to the gram and a timer, like the Hario Drip Scale/Timer
A kettle, like the Bonavita Variable Temperature Water Kettle, filled with boiled water
Freshly ground coffee from Insight Coffee Roasters
Preparation:
Lock an Aeropress filter or Disk Fine into the bottom of the Aeropress.
Warm the Aeropress and vessel with hot water.
Weigh 20 grams of wholeseed coffee.
Grind your coffee on a fine setting that resembles the consistency of table salt.
Brewing:
Place the Aeropress onto a sturdy vessel that won't tip or break under pressure.
Funnel the ground coffee into the brewer using the provided Aeropress funnel.
Gently saturate the entire coffee bed with about 40 grams of water, starting a timer as soon as you begin to pour. You can gently swish the brewer to ensure saturation.
After this 30 second pre-infusion, begin pouring with a full stream. Pour up to the top of the chamber, breaking up any visible clumps.
After 1:00, insert the Aeropress plunger and press down with modest force. The press should take a total of 30 – 45 seconds.
Unscrew the basket on the bottom of the brewer and knock the compacted coffee puck into the trash. Rinse the Aeropress immediately and enjoy!
