Lecturing is a staple in most classes. Teachers have to become an expert at effective public speaking. There is a book called, Inspiring Active Learning: A Complete Handbook for Today's Teacher (Expanded 2nd Edition) by Merrill Harmin and Melanie Toth, which I recommend to all in the teaching profession. It takes normal classroom activities and provides strategies that are useable and effective. Case in point, Chapter 13 talks about how to create a more effective lecture. Here Merrill and Toth discuss eleven different strategies. In this video, the focus is on the first strategy.
