It never fails. There is always one relative at those family gatherings who is mean and nasty. They take great pride in being able to make others uncomfortable, by making rude comments and asking nosy, hurtful questions. It's great if you can come up with a witty comeback, but you don't usually think of those until after you have left the party! Instead, simply give that person a big, dumb smile and say nothing. That way, they are the ones that feel uncomfortable, not you! You have successfully turned it around on them, and they will likely never say anything negative to you again.
