This video is about How to Read Books to Toddlers and in it I give my best tips as a speech therapist. Reading to toddlers can be difficult! Try these strategies to get your toddler to pay attention to books.
1. DON"T read the text
2. Describe what you see in the pictures
3. Pay attention to what THEY pay attention to
4. Help them point to items in the book
5. Repeat simple words and sounds
5 TIPS: How to teach a toddler to Talk:
Use simple words and short phrases.
Repeat those words and phrases.
Pause and give them a chance to try.
Praise the child for copying your words!
Use expansion: If they say one word, then you expand and say two words!
Early intervention for children is super important and I love sharing fun kids activities that parents and therapists can use at home. Try this out and let me know how it works!
