If you find a scratch on your car, you will want to remove the scratch as soon as possible. If the scratch is in the clear coat, you can use a clear coat pen to remove it.
First you will want to prime the pen until you get the clear coat liquid started. Then, gently tract the scratch with the clear coat pen and fill the scratch in completely. Allow it to dry for a good ten minutes. If you have a deep scratch, or if it's cold, you could wait over night before starting the sanding process.
Mask off about one inch above and one inch below the damage area with low tack tape. Then choose the proper sanding pad. Each is color coded and numbered. Start by lubricating the surface then lubricate the sanding pad. Lightly sand the area, progressing to the next level sanding pad, lubricating as you go.
Once sanded, then use the polishing compound to bring back the gloss to the damaged area. Apply compound to a microfiber cloth and buff in the opposite direction of the scratch. If your car had a wax finish, the finish would have been removed. This is a good time to wax the affected area.
