Hunter S Thompson interview with Keith Richard (insane).
This interview between Hunter S. Thompson and Keith Richards from 1993 is a whirlwind of bizarre. Commissioned by ABC, negotiations for the interview begin with a handwritten fax from Richards and may or may not include the exchange of cash before the two meet in a hotel room.
What comes next is, well, not very clear. The two discuss the afterlife (including the possible reincarnation of J. Edgar Hoover), the role of The Beatles in popularizing the Rolling Stones, the intricacies of various art mediums (“A painter’s got a canvas, but there’s got to be a frame around it. Somewhere. The writer’s got reams of empty paper which he’s supposed to fill with words and brilliantly put together. And a musician has silence.”), and more in what can best be described as a drug-induced fever dream.
The best we can assume is that these two titans on ingenuity ingested some of the same substances and connected on a neural level we won’t be able to fully comprehend.
