On the 26th September 1910 the US Navy Department assigned Captain W. Chambers to handle all developments concerning Navial Aviation, this was two years before the Royal Navy had approved the construction of the first No. 1 rigid Naval Airship.
Most countries recognised the value of Air power at sea, however no one could have foreseen the full potential by developing the first Aircraft Carrier. Nobody could argue that had it not been for the massive fire power of the carriers in the Pacific, the Japanese would have been unstoppable. This is the story of the first rigid Airship and its development to 1945.
