Pretty useful kettle that's great for making pour-over style coffee. I enjoy making coffee with the pour-over method because it lets me finetune the coffee making process and make a much better cup with smoothness and rich complex flavors. Coffee made from a drip machine cannot compare.
One of the most important parts of making a good cup of pour-over coffee is proper temperature and proper control of the pour. This kettle gives you great control of the pour with the gooseneck design and the built-in thermometer lets you get the water to the proper 195-205F range. The comfortable handle and compact size of the kettle gives you fine control and lets you pour the hot water slowly and with precision. The top most portion of the handle does get a bit hot when heated on a gas stovetop with the kettle centered over the flames, you can reduce this effect by positioning the kettle off-centered with the handle further away from the flame. The thermometer is built into the lid and the top opening is large enough for me to reach inside to clean the kettle, this is a big plus since I don't have to use a special brush or tool to clean inside.
This is a very well built kettle made from good quality steel that works on a conventional gas stove top, electrical, induction, and more. I filled up the kettle with a 250ml measuring cup and it took about 3 1/2 cups to fill it up. So while the capacity is a bit smaller than the 1L advertised, the kettle is smaller and lighter than I expected and this makes it easier to handle and pour. The water capacity is enough to make 3 smaller cup or 2 large mugs of coffee which is good for me. I tested the built-in thermometer as well, I compared it against my digital thermometer and the temperature reading was spot on.
Overall I am happy with the performance of this gooseneck kettle and would recommend it if the capacity is enough for you. For those that have only tried drip coffee from a machine or from k-cups, I would encourage you to give pourover coffee a try, it really is a noticeable improvement and a great experience.
