This video shows how to disassemble the Kodak Zi8 to access the USB connector, replace the front cover and the joystick control.
Kodak Zi8s have an easily scuffed and scratched plastic cover which CANNOT be polished or buffed. A replacement front cover is usually easily found and is shown being utilized in this video.
Caution:
* Pay close attention to how you remove the Red upper lens cover, if you slide it too far up it will break the LED light cover.
* Take extra care not to damage the flex cable connecting the front display to the body during removal or reinsertion
Tools required are only a small Phillips head screwdriver (size 0 or 00) Available at my website.
Useful also would be a tiny flat head screwdriver, and a microfiber cloth.
Excuse the misuse of the word "ribbon" cable, they are technically called "flex" cable.
