When I bought my #SJCam #4000 #action #camera the first thing I youtubed was how to #mount an action camera on a #helmet. I was totally surprised by the level of complication involved in the shared videos. Some people were using industrial adhesives like M-Seal, others drilled holes in the camera casing or the helmet. Doing anything drastic was out of the question and hence I was left with the most popular option of using a double-sided 3M tape. I, however, had three problems with this method:
First, it meant sticking a particular appendage on my helmet permanently.
Second, my helmet has an air vent on the chin area which means that I would have to side mount the camera which is absolutely useless as 40% of the video screen gets covered by the helmet.
Third, I was simply scared about the tape wearing out and the camera falling down.
To remedy this I have come up with a simple and effective method of chin mounting an action camera on a helmet simply using #Velcro strips.
The benefits of this methods are:
1. Simple and uncomplicated. Effective and efficient.
2. Will work for almost all helmets, irrespective of the brand or design.
3. Will work for almost all action camera irrespective of a SJCam, #GoPro, #Xiaomi or similar brands.
4. No fear of the camera falling off and getting damaged.
5. Unlike the 3M tape method, the camera position can be easily adjusted to get the desired view or angle whenever you feel like.
6. Allows better recording of the riders narrative due to its chin positioning.
7. Can be effortlessly removed thereby ensuring that there is no permanent damage / attachment on the helmet.
