Here's my video on my progress after my L5-S1 Microdiscectomy with Contralateral Decompression. More info and a year after update below (sorry for potato quality!)
November 11, 2013 (just over a year post-op!)
Sorry I wasn't able to keep the progress videos coming throughout recovery, It turns out i wasn't able to really film as much of physical therapy as I originally thought. Most of my progress was made by forcing myself to walk around the neighborhood starting with small goals like just walking one house over and back. Walking eased the pain a lot and getting out of the house became the most important to me because it got pretty depressing just staying in bed all the time! That would have to be my strongest recommendation to anybody dealing with recovery from this type of surgery, WALK!! And ultimately listen to your body, it will tell you what it is ready for.
Be gentle and love your spine! We only get one! haha. :)
