RELEASE INFO:
"The 43rd release on Ivan Nikusev's OLD SQL Recordings sees the debut of the much loved production duo of Lacandon & Venes. Lacandon who hails from Bulgaria and Venes hailing from Australia are now both based in the UK and have been pushing their unique brand of progressive house since 2010 when the duo first appeared together on a variety of imprints including Mistique. 2012 has seen Lacandon & Venus continuing to build on their success with releases on Mistique and Baroque. Their debut for OLD SQL is entitled 'The Lodge of Sheitan' and it comes with remixes from: Rezo, CJ Art and Frangellico.
The EP begins with the original mix and it comes with an amazing outdoor / festival type vibe. The uniquely muted beats, marching drums, soulful instrumentation and great chord changes push the track with ferocious energy towards the drop. What you find here will likely go down as one of the more memorable breakdowns this year; with a soulful ethnic vocal and superb flute line this is one your dance floor won't soon forget!
The first remix is supplied by Rezo who is making his second appearance on OLD SQL here following his remix of Carlos Fox's 'Magic Tears' from April of 2012. The Israeli producer delivers a fine interpretation of 'The Lodge of Sheitan' that presents a slightly more stripped back progressive house approach. The spacious, club friendly groove is surrounded by a wealth of widescreen drums and subtle electronic accents while the breakdown features the heavily processed vocal lead along with some additional vocal gates and a lovely hypnotic synth. The second half sees all the parts come together for a lovely percussive and hypnotic finale that should go down well on a wide variety of dance floors.
CJ Art is up next and it is also his second appearance on OLD SQL with the first coming in February of 2012 with his remix of Coldberg & Repton's 'Leaving London'. CJ's tough percussive sound has worked well on 'The Lodge of Sheitan'. The mix focuses on his signature tough beats, acidic foundations and an escalating set of swirling chords that are absolutely heavenly. Top stuff from CJ once again!
Closing the package out is Frangellico who is making his debut on OLD SQL here. The Argentinean producer has already amassed legions of fans for his tough, driving sound that's been showcased on Sudam, Mistique and Stereo FX many times. In chopping up the flute parts from the original Frangellico has delivered a serious bomb of a remix that comes with hooks a plenty. The tough, driving groove, haunting vocal elements and killer flute sections make this one to drop at peak time and watch your dance floor go totally off!"
