Part 3 (and final) of the ongoing saga of getting the retracts to work with my Corsair. The retracts are now totally reliable and even have suspension. The wheels are nicely just ahead of the leading edge so nose-overs are not an issue.
Note that the smaller size square brass tubing is cut to the same length as the 3 mm steel gear legs of the twist and turn retracts. After completing each brass gear leg assembly dribble some epoxy into the smaller size square brass tubing and push it down over over the steel gear leg. Make sure to align the gear assemblies for correct axel tracking and don't glue the assembly to the plastic part of the twist and turns as this bit doesn't twist. There is also a small pin through the bottom of the smaller brass square section to prevent the brass sliders dropping off.
This Lanyu Corsair is a beautiful flying aircraft due to its larger size, relatively low wing loading and thick airfoil section. It is extremely stable and predictable in flight with no tip stall or other vices. In fact I can't even get it to spin and it's as easy to fly as a Cub. It makes a great platform for experimentation but sadly, at the time of this posting HobbyKing is listing this plane as 'Discontinued'. I believe you can still get one from Lanyu but the price looks pretty steep.
