Stills and timelapse movie from stitched stills taken during the build of this classic Phil Kraft big stick design. Maiden flight at the end.
At a bit more than 1m this stick is scaled down from the original but is still quite large. Despite very basic build instructions it was quite a simple assembly and a lot of fun. Highly recommended as a first kit build if you made a few foamboard planes already and looking for something more challenging.
This version of the kit I sourced from hobbyking.com for the princely sum of $28.95 plus shipping. The original plans are available on the net if you want to cut it yourself - try rcgroups or outerzone.
I used some metal gear HK933 servo's I had lying around. Perhaps overkill but this plane may last a while so its good to have MG servo's in it.
It flies extremely well. Its my second stick, my first one being the mini-stick that HK also sell. Their flying characteristics are very similar.
