Precisely for this reason, the Pas d'Esclave and the variations are included in all the most prestigious ballet competitions and festivals. The dynamic and romantic plot, with its gallery of different characters, has also contributed to the work's popularity. The story is a vivid mix of pirate adventures, the trials and tribulations of love, harems, battles, and colorful Eastern markets.
