Chester Bennington was the frontman and vocalist of the American rock band Linkin Park. Over the years, Chester touched a billion hearts with his soul-stirring voice and music. One Step Closer was Linkin Park's debut single and the second track from their debut album Hybrid Theory, released in September 2000. We present this cover video as a token of our love and gratitude for Linkin Park, for Chester Bennington, and for the love of music.
Chester Bennington's suicide on July 20, 2017, sent shock waves across the music industry and left all fans heartbroken and teary eyed. It is said that he had been suffering from depression and drug abuse since a long time. His death occurred on the same day as his friend and former frontman of Audioslave, Chris Cornell's 53rd birthday. Linkin Park shall always remain incomplete without Chester Bennington.
Chester Bennington has always been an inspiration and a childhood hero to us. What made Linkin Park one of the greatest commercially hit bands ever was their perfect amalgamation of nu metal, industrial, rap and popular rock. Linkin Park has been one of my greatest inspirations to create industrial and avant-garde music.
Linkin Park's tribute to Chester Bennington (in the form of a letter) mentions about how Chester always wrote and sang about the demons that disturbed him while giving strength to everyone else who fell in love with him. Calling his voice boisterous, funny, ambitious, creative, kind, and generous, they echo the grief and denial of his absence - a void that can never be filled.
Chester Bennington has left behind his wife Talinda Bennington and six children. Recently, Talinda shared a heartbreaking tweet about their 6 year old daughter, Lilly Bennington, who asked, "Is daddy on tour in our hearts?" To which Talinda sweetly replied, "Yes, daddy will forever tour in our hearts."
