MUST USE SOLAR FILTER!!! Description of a way to find the Sun using a telescope that has already been polar aligned. I was able to do this without a finder scope using a 10" f/10 Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope and a 2" diagonal. Mount is an Orion Atlas German Equatorial. The trick is to set the proper declination of the for the current date on your setting circle and then sweep the scope from East to West until you can see the disk of the Sun in your eyepiece barrel. I did this without an eyepiece because it eliminates any issue of not being in focus. It also works well for the Moon, which is where I first discovered the idea, and could also possibly be used when trying to find a very bright star or planet.
The video also touches on afocal photography.
