On May 24, 2010, we went through the most traumatic and painful experience of our lives. We lost our baby girl. I remember wondering how I was going to make it. How were we going to get though this pain?? A baby we had tried so hard to conceive was born a little too early to survive. I'll never forget Rick holding her rocking her, with tears in his eyes saying "Melissa, we have a choice to make. We can be mad and bitter at God - or we can trust that somehow He has a bigger plan, and something good will come out of this". Through grieving her loss I knit and sewed as that was the very thing I did all those weeks I laid with her in my belly in the hospital. Healing came with every stitch. I knit blankets, I sewed quilts, I made baby clothes. I created, and made projects come to life. A life I no longer had in a daughter. Then one day I made that pair of lace topped bootsocks - and before I knew it Grace and Lace was born . He knew the story along. It doesn't make the pain of Halle's loss less. But it gives me a reason to push on and fulfill His plan for my life.
