According to the latest website California Department of Motor Vehicles, Lyft is the latest
company to get a permit from the test self-driving cars on California's public roads.
Lyft already had secured deal partnerships with few autonomous car companies to
advance its self-driving strategy with Ford Motor Co. and startup Nutonomy to incorporate
self-driving cars in its fleet.
Earlier this year, the firm also started a collaboration research project with Alphabet unit
Waymo.
The chief rival company of Lyft which is Uber [UBER.UL] secured the California permit to
test self-driving cars in March. Apple Inc, Samsung Electronics, Tesla Inc and a host of
automakers also have the permit.
