The medieval town of Saint-Cirq Lapopie is rightfully called "One of the most beautiful villages in France." And yes it is. The feudal village is perched on a cliff 300 feet above the Lot River and enclosed by several castles and fortified houses.
Beautiful old houses have facades of stone or wood and were built between the 13th and 16th centuries with steeply sloped, flat tile roofs. It is so drop-dead gorgeous that we happily spent an extra day just admiring the town and eating wonderful food.
