'Wattage' brand Stearman PT-19
This ARF plane has a molded plastic fuselage, balsa wings, and a molded non-steerable tail wheel. I substituted a brushless motor and 3 cell Lipo battery in place of the included 400 cobalt brushed motor and recommended 7 cell NiCD battery.
Power:
Motor: Turnigy LD2840A-1800kv
ESC: HobbyKing 30A BlueSeries
Prop: 8x5 Turnigy Type A Beech
Battery: 1300MaH 25c 3cell LiPo
Static test with fully charged battery: 31 amps and 352 watts (KV is a bit higher than needed, 1400~1600 would be better). This plane flies fine at half throttle.
AUW: 24oz (Wattage listed weight: 26-29oz)
In order to attain the recommended COG I placed the battery, ESC and receiver directly behind the firewall. Not pretty with the cut open fuselage for the battery to slide down, but with the lower AUW this plane flies very nice.
