I'm in the process of decking out my desk at work with all kinds of hand made walnut accessories. I made this small stand with shelf to lift my computer monitor to eye level height.
The shelf is of the "waterfall" style, where the grain wraps continuously around the outside of the piece. It includes maple splines both for structural reinforcement and for aesthetic reasons. The corners of the stand are mitered, and the shelf is held in place with mortise and tenon joinery.
In this video I detail the construction process, explaining every step along the way. I encourage you to try to build similar projects yourself and let me know how it goes!
