Father-of-two Simon White, 36, spent $24,000 buying the raft, importing it from Aberdeenshire to Bristol and then converting it into a pared down paradise. And the costs are just a fraction of of the price of an equivalent flat in Bath where Simon is based. He pays just $3,000 a year to live on the river whereas a flat in quaint Bath will cost $14,500 just for basic rent.
