Vote in the POLL on the video. What do you guys think? Is something like this to be respected or tolerated, in our world of surfing at any level? Not in my books. What if Medina got caught in the lip, which he almost did, and then free-fall with 2 boards and 2 surfers in the washing machine? Not a good look.
What message does this send to new surfers? Let's do what Gabe does, just drop in anywhere, anytime, they do it in comps?
Should this be allowed? Surely this precedent has to have safety issues and concerns? How would the WSL be held accountable for allowing such a ridiculous rule, if someone died from doing this? I bet the WSL would have their asses fried and be bankrupt. Is that what it would take to change the rules and stop a blatant dangerous drop-in, just to stop another competitors scoring potential, do we need someone sliced and diced?
It's not even like Medina was threatened anyway, was it? Kelly was combo'd. AND Medina turned back into Kelly. Bit of a low act, a win at any cost mentality and he gets rewarded for it. No thanks!
WSL need to revisit this rule for situations like this, it is quite obviously dangerous to BOTH competitors.
