The 3d metal printing method enables printing large metal parts. Finally, strong functional parts can be printed on the desktop at very low costs. The printer is small and light weight and needs no other systems. It also doesn’t require any shielding gases. It is safe to use. Works with easy handable metal wire instead of powders. The 3d metal desktop printer is as familiar in use as FDM 3d printers are. So there should be great acceptance from the people.
Parts are dimensional accurate after printing. No shrinkage of the parts. Full metal parts like cnc milled parts can be easily manufactured. Easy take off of the finished prints. It enables very fast rapid prototyping. The 3d metal printer price is comparable to good FDM printers. As explained in the video with the shown method 2, hybrid or indirect printing, a lot more is possible.
Reminding that the technology has only just begun in development. It is in a stage of development where FDM printers were around 20 years ago and look what great 3d FDM printers we have now. This is also the case for this metal desktop 3d printing method. As a lot can be learned and implemented from FDM printers to the metal desktop printer, development isn’t complicated and can advance very rapidly.
