Microsoft latest artificial intelligence (AI) bot named Tay was launched and only last 24 hours before being shutdown for 'reprograming' The AI tweet bot who goes by the handle @taytweets is designed to interact with 18 to-24-year-olds on social media platforms like Twitter and Kik.
Within hours of the going live, Twitter users took advantage of flaws in the bots algorithm engine and asked questions that received racist and highly offensive answers.
These included Tay using racial slurs, supporting genocide and defending white supremacy.
Microsoft removed all but a few tweet but internet users were quick to post screenshots of Tay's musings.
Microsoft launched Tay as a method to find out more about how young internet users communicate online and was supposed to 'learn' from human engagement.
