My Time With My Pot-Bellied Pig:
Mimi was a great pet pig and always very curious. I had the lucky fortune of taking care of her for a friend who no longer could, and she came to live my family. Having her was sometimes a lot of work, but no more so than having a dog, cat, rat, or bird…okay, maybe rats are a little harder to take care of but I wouldn’t really know!
If you’re going to own a Pot-bellied Pig, you have to know that they are very intelligent, and a little stubborn. But they are very loving animals and equally as fun as dogs are. You can even teach them to do tricks like: Sit, Wave, and Circle!

Pot-bellied pig associations recommend adoption from local shelters instead of buying. The Southern California Association for Miniature Pot-bellied Pigs and the California Pot-bellied Pig Association is actively involved in housing abandoned pet pigs. Despite this, shelters often have difficulty in finding new homes for abandoned pigs. So please, think about calling a local shelter or finding one on-line before you decide to buy a pet pig!
