About 8 pilots flew Mingus mountain on May 3, 2014. Altitudes were in the 15 to 17,000' range. Jeff B Johnson and I planned to XC together North in hopes of reaching the Grand Canyon 80 miles away. Strong westerly winds aloft cut our distance to 46 and 42 miles, respectively. Jeff had radio issues so we couldn't keep track of each other. Jeff got very low over Perkinsville but pulled it out and landed in Bellemont, just West of Flagstaff, and I landed at a dry lake called Red Lake, about 6 miles North of Williams, AZ. Lisa chased in the truck and we had a great day, even though we didn't make the Grand Canyon. Maybe later this season! Enjoy.
