Shape Tools is an awesome, free tool set included in Sensei Format (get here blendersensei.com/store#senseiformat). Shape tools work similarly to Illustrator's path tools allowing you to cut out, combine and intersect mesh objects much in the way you would shapes or paths in Illustrator or other programs.
Key Features of Shape Tools:
• Just select an object and press a Shape Tool button and you're in business. You don't need to have multiple objects selected to cut out, combine or intersect things. The object closest to the one you have selected will be affected by the tool used.
• You can change the operation being performed on any object by selecting it (or multiple objects) and selecting a different Shape Tool button than the one it's using.
• If you duplicate an object that's using a Shape Tool, the effect of the tool will be carried over to the duplicated object automatically.
• You can add, remove and adjust as many objects as you want up until you're ready to apply the effects permanently. You don't need any special objects selected or deselected when pressing "Apply".
• You can also automatically cut out, combine, or intersect 3D text into any object. You don't even need to convert the text first, just make the text, adjust the text geometry settings (extrude, offset etc...) to make it 3D, then select it and choose a shape tool.
This video is part of a training series that uses a free addon (Sensei Format) which uses custom hotkeys, tools and workspaces to simplify and enhance Blender.
