CNC machining an aftermarket seat mold pattern for a 2008 Yamaha R1. Pattern was machined from 10lb. foam on a Fadal 4020 vertical mill. The original seat (injection molded) was 3D scanned and imported into CAD to create a new seat model. Since the aftermarket seat is made of fiberglass, the injection molded features were removed in the new model. A fiberglass mold will be made from this pattern and used to manufacture finished seat pans.
